By train

National trains can be regular (putnicheski), fast (burz) or express (ekspres), with the prices slightly higher for speedier travel. Some international and national trains have sleeper cars available; call or visit a ticket office for current information and reservations.

Bulgaria has a good railway network connecting even very small villages with big cities and you can get almost anywhere by train. A couple of new trains will now be running the Sofia-Varna line, and the journey has been shortened considerably.
